Changsha Heimifeng Mountain National Forest Park

Changsha Heimifeng Peak National Forest Park is located in Qiaoyi town, Changsha, only 19 kilometers from the city center. It is the highest, largest, and most richly vegetated national forest park and national AAAA-level tourist attraction in the suburbs of Changsha.

The park was designated as a national forest park in early 2012 and a national AAAA-level tourist attraction in 2014.

The park is divided into two main areas — Heimi Peak and Jiufeng Peak, covering an area of 3,016 hectares. The main peak reaches an altitude of 590.5 meters with a forest coverage rate of 77.51%.

The park fosters a unique mountain forest microclimate that features cool summers and mild winters, with temperatures in summer averaging between 20-28 degrees Celsius.

Rich in biodiversity, the park is home to 651 species of seed plants across 124 families and 438 genera, 113 of which hold medicinal value. Additionally, there are 74 species of wild vertebrates, including 28 mammal species, 28 bird species, 11 reptile species, and seven amphibian species.

The park features lush forests and bamboo groves with stunning scenic beauty. In the park, there are vast and distinctly gorgeouslakes like Xiaoxiang Heavenly Lake, Jingxu Lake, and Xianmi Lake.

One of the oldest mountains in Changsha, the mysterious Heimifeng Mountain offers unique, beautiful landscapes at different altitudes, each an ethereal scene from a fairy tale.

Historical figures such as the Tang dynasty (618-907) monk and calligrapher Huaisu and Emperor Zhu Houzhao of the Ming dynasty (1368-1644) toured the mountain and left their marks, with some calligraphies still preserved. The Tang dynasty poet Liu Changqing also visited and explored the mountain, commemorating his journey with poetic writings.
